چکیده
In this study, fly ash (FA) compacts were prepared by accelerated carbonation as a potential sustainable building material application with the locally available ashes (oil shale (OSA), wood (WA) and land filled oil (LFA)) of Estonia. The behaviour FAs performance 100% FA based evaluated on obtained values CO2 uptake compressive strength. influence different variables (compaction pressure, curing temperature, concentration, pressure) strength development investigated reaction kinetics process tested reaction-order models. A reasonable relation was noted between compacts. porous surface structure hydrated OSA WA changed after due to calcite formations (being primary product), especially portlandite crystals. increase gas concentration improved levels However, positive effect increasing compaction pressure more apparent final 10 36 MPa 11 13 wt%, respectively, under various operation conditions. Moreover, mixed design (OSA/LFA WA/LFA) resulted in low-strength density compared single compacts, yet higher achieved (approximately 15% mass) design. conformity Jander equation (3D-diffusion-limited model) other order models for representation mechanism WA. activation energy compact calculated 3.55 kJ/mol 17.06 kJ/mol.

The Utilization of Mswi Fly Ashes in Cement Production and Its Impact on Heavy Metal Contents in Cement
SUMMARY: The disposal of fly ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) is becoming a growing environmental issue in Europe. In order to avoid landfilling and recycle MSWI fly ashes, initiatives aim to recycle them in cement production. While numerous studies have analyzed the impact of MSWI ashes application on the concrete quality and the leaching of potentially hazardous heavy meta...

متن کاملRadioactivity of Coals and Fly Ashes
Coal, like most materials found in nature, contain trace quantities of the naturally occurring primordial radionuclides. Therefore, the combustion of coals results in the release into the environment of some natural radioactive elements and in a redistribution of these radioactive elements in the surface soil particularly in the vicinity of coal-fired power plants, where it can modify ambient r...
متن کاملActivated carbons from oil-fired fly ashes
Introduction. The aim of this investigation is to prepare activated carbons with good sorbent characteristics from oil-fired fly ash, looking for suitable activation processes to produce surface sites with high reactivity on the carbonaceous matrices [1-4]. In particular, the nitrogen surface sites, formed by gaseous ammonia reaction at 800°C, could greatly increase the adsorption of gaseous sp...
متن کاملBeyond waste: new sustainable fillers from fly ashes stabilization, obtained by low cost raw materials
A sustainable economy can be achieved only by assessing processes finalized to optimize the use of resources. Waste can be a relevant source of energy thanks to energy-from-waste processes. Concerns regarding the toxic fly ashes can be solved by transforming them into resource as recycled materials. The commitment to recycle is driven by the need to conserve natural resources, reduce imports of...
